Fawn Germer

When Oprah Winfrey raised Hard Won Wisdom to the skies calling it a "very inspiring book," Fawn Germer's life changed in a big way. The book had initially been rejected by publishers fifteen times and when finally released, the very first copy was handed to her just a day before the September 11 tragedies in 2001. She had to get out and promote a new book, and herself, at one of the most difficult moments in our history.

Maybe this is why Fawn adheres to the theory that obstacles are what push you forward. With a combination of hurdles, defeat, perseverance, and risk-taking, Fawn has become an award-winning investigative reporter, a four-time Pulitzer Prize nominee, best selling author of seven books and one of the country's most sought-after speakers. She has worked as a correspondent for The Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, and the Miami Herald, and her distinguished reporting career has earned her numerous awards including the Pulitzer nominations and the prestigious Green Eyeshade Award from the Society for Professional Journalists. Fawn recalls an old bully boss who tried to hold her back as a young journalist and says "Some people have mentors. I had a tormentor. If not for him, I'd never have looked for anything different from my career."

Today, Fawn speaks to audiences across the globe on topics like self-esteem, risk-taking, work-life balance, and perseverance during times of setback. As a perfect illustration to the old proverb "Fall Down Seven Times, Get Up Eight" herself, Fawn will encourage you to do the same.
